With a degree in journalism, Helena Moncrieff started her communications career as a radio news broadcaster in Thunder Bay, Ottawa and Toronto. She rounded out her experience on the other side of the microphone working in media and public relations at the Ontario Legislature and in the home and car insurance industry.

In 1997, Helena established H. Moncrieff Communications. As a contractor, she served for four years as managing editor of Seneca College’s Alumni magazine, working with a team of volunteer writers.

Helena has also worked with governments, the health care sector, the financial services sector, a publisher, and teachers’ federations. She has developed content for new websites; co-ordinated and written annual reports, newsletters and a human resources manual; provided strategic direction for media campaigns; and delivered media training sessions to union leaders, politicians and authors.

Helena is co-author of The Insurance Book, a consumers’ guide to insurance products in Canada. Her writing has also appeared in Registered Nurse Journal, Best Health magazine, The Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail.

As part of a commitment to volunteerism, Helena is a board member of The George Hull Centre for children and families.
